Linen necktie with leather tie ring by dirk bikkembergs, likely from spring 1998. A signature bikkembergs accessory produced in numerous variations during the 1990s, it combines a necktie and a ‘ring’ (often made of metal but here made in rigid black leather) through which the tie can be fed. With the aid of an attached silver chain (worn around the neck to prevent the ring slipping down), the wearer can wear a tie without having to tie it, the ring holding the tie in place and, because it is shaped like one, acting as the tie knot, too. This example in a striped grey linen with a black leather tie ring.
